In this guide, I’ll disassemble a HP pavilion M4-1009TX and clean the fan.
Make sure you are careful and patient enough to do this.
Make sure the laptop is turned off.
Those are tools for the disassembly:
Brush, crowbar (plastic is better), hard curved wedge, cross screwdriver.
And let’s start from the bottom cover.
Remove the bottom cover, unload the memory chips and hard drive, and unplug the fan power cable.
Remove all the screws marked.
The blue ones secure the optical drive, the green ones secure the keyboard and the red ones secure C side.
There are 2 screws on the sides of the revolving axis. Remove the protective cover first then unscrew them.
After we remove the optical drive, we need to remove 2 screws behind it. I’ve marked the position.
And if you want to replace SSD in the optical drive bracket, there’s no need to remove other screws.
Just remove the memory cover and then unscrew the screw securing the optical drive, then you can pull it out.
Let’s move on to C side.
Unload the keyboard first.
And there are some skills to remove the keyboard. The order is to pry from the space bar and also reassemble it in the same direction. Watch out the direction of the keyboard and the clips.
There are double-sided adhesive behind the keyboard. Use a little force to unload the keyboard. Make sure to tear apart the adhesive but no to tear apart the cables.
As there are cables behind the keyboard, do not pry too hard. Uncover the keyboard from an angle, disconnect the cable then take out the keyboard.
The keyboard cable
Disconnect the motherboard connecting cable marked in purple.
Now, open C side.
Remove 2 screws securing the fan, and remove the fan so we can do some cleaning.
