I’ll show you how to disassemble ThinkPad SL400 and clean the fan.
Make sure the laptop is turned off.
Let’s remove the battery first.
Remove screws on the bottom cover.
There’s one covered by a small board. Pluck it and remove the screw.
Then remove the bottom cover.
We can access CPU, fan and chipset.
Take a look at CPU. It’s blocked by the radiator.
Remove the fan.
Unplug the cable.
And remove screws securing the fan.
Take it out.
And the CPU radiator.
South Bridge Chipset.
Wipe out the dust and the old silica gel, smear new gel thinly.
