In this guide, I’ll disassemble a Lenovo T400.
Turn off the laptop first.
Release the battery latch and remove the battery.
Remove 6 screws on the bottom cover.
Pull the latch and remove the optical drive.
Remove the optical drive.
Turn it over, remove the touchpad.
When remove the touchpad, notice that there’s a cable connecting the touchpad and the motherboard.
There’s also a cable connecting the keyboard and the motherboard.
Unplug it before you remove the keyboard.
Then remove the plastic shelf.
Remove the louder speaker.
Now we’re going to remove the fan.
First, remove screws marked in blue so we can unload the iron plate.
Then, remove screws marked in yellow so we can unload the iron stand.
Remove the screws marked in red so we can unload the fan.
Unplug the power cable of the fan, and take out the fan.
Now disassemble the fan.
Start to clean the fan blade.
Clean the fan.
Smear silica gel on CPU and GPU. Just a thin layer of it.
Now we can reassemble the laptop.
Don’t forget to plug the power cable.
Reassemble the iron plate.
Reassemble the iron stand.
Tighten the screws.
Now the laptop is reassembled.
